Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Canada collecting a total of 690 Million Pennies to build one house with every affiliate – it just makes “cents”

By now you’ve heard the news - the one-cent piece is set to disappear from Canadian pockets. Yesterday’s Federal Budget said the Royal Canadian Mint will strike the last of the little coins this fall. As for the jars, boxes and bags of pennies sitting in countless drawers across the country, the government suggests people donate them to charities – so let’s take their advice, be first off the mark, and collect pennies across the country to fund one Habitat home build for every affiliate!

$100,000/home = 10,000,000 pennies! So, a grand total of 690 MILLION pennies across Canada!!
